OPS>OPENPOLSCOPE RESOURCE>OVERVIEW
Since 2014, the OpenPolScope Resource at MBL provides services, hardware, and software for polarized light microscopy, complementing the software and information available on the OpenPolScope.org website.
The OPS Resource sells the OpenPolScope Hardware Kit, which consists of a liquid crystal device with digital controller and some additional optical and mechanical components (see webpage OPS Hardware). Together with the OPS Software available for free on the webpage OPS Downloads, the Hardware Kit allows the user to convert an exisiting research grade microscope into a sensitive polarized light microscope that comprehensively maps optical anisotropies (birefringence, diattenuation, and polarized fluorescence) in biological and other specimens.
The OPS Resource also provides OpenPolScope Services for installing, operating and maintaining OpenPolScope systems in laboratories around the world. In addition, we make arrangements for developing custom imaging software, in particular for the ImageJ and Micro-Manager platforms.
The following examples give an overview of microscope stands and configurations of OpenPolScope systems that are installed in MBL and collaborative laboratories and facilities.Examples
