This page has interactive content that requires the installation of the free CDFPlayer (v10.0.2 or later) from Wolfram Research.  CDF stands for "Computable Document Format", which was used to create interactive graphics on this web page. If not installed on your computer, clicking on the graphic will send you to the Wolfram website from where you can download the Player that will take about 200 Mbytes to install.

Color legend for Birefringence PolScope image

  • Legend for a false color PolScope image in which hue represents the slow axis orientation and brightness represents retardance.
  • To customize the horizontal scale, enter maximum retardance value (retardance ceiling) as applicable to your image.
  • Take a screen shot, scale legend as needed, and paste into your PolScope image.

Color legend for Fluorescence PolScope image

  • Legend for a false color PolScope image in which hue represents polarization orientation of maximum fluorescence and brightness represents fluorescence anisotropy or ratio.
  • To customize the horizontal scale, choose "ratio" or "anisotropy" and enter maximum (ceiling) value as applicable to your image.
  • Take a screen shot, scale legend as needed and paste into your PolScope image.

Color legend in which saturation represents fluorescence anisotropy or ratio

Three dimensional color legend for Fluorescence PolScope image

  • Legend for a false color PolScope image in which hue represents polarization orientation of maximum fluorescence, saturation represents fluorescence anisotropy, and brightness represents fluorescence intensity.
  • To customize the anisotropy scale, enter maximum (ceiling) value as applicable to your image.
  • Take a screen shot, scale legend as needed and paste into your PolScope image.
